YOU ARE SONS OF PROMISE
BY Xola Nkosikwanele Fakudze
Let me first mention this...this post and what is entailed herein does not in any way promote laziness. In fact, laziness is dangerous, with one of its fruits leading to poverty. (Proverbs)
Now that that has been made clear, let's get right in to it.
Abraham was promised, by Abba Father, that he, in his old age, that he would have a son. Unfortunately, as you read the story of Abraham in the Bible, we learn that he had lost patience in the promise of God, and hence tried, by his own strength and efforts, to fulfil the promise of God. This is the first lesson, that which is from God can only be achieved through the Spirit of God. Too often do man tragically try to do what God has already done. Remember, He knows the plans and purpose He has for you, as you were chosen before the foundations of the earth were laid (Ephesians 1:4). Again, we know that all things were done through Him, for Him and by Him (John 1:3). This means before you were born, your life already was completed! Before you were born, the promises of God for your life were already spoken! The toughest challenge we face as His children is that we have decided o work to achieve, instead of believing to receive. If you didn't know, today you will. THE PROMISES OF GOD CAN ONLY BE RECEIVED THROUGH FAITH/ BELIEVING IN HIM!
Abraham started off focused on only Him, but along the way lost his focused, tried doing things his way and in his own strength, which resulted in Ishmael. Here is something else to note, patience/ longsuffering is the key to receiving the promises of God for you life. Nothing in the kingdom of God comes like 5 min noodles, so you will have to be strong and patient, yet dillegent and persistent until that which is not yet visible in the physical becomes manifest.
Another factor to note is that man's efforts to please God or for God are rejected by God. Ishmael had to be banished because man's works will always have conflict with the promises of God. Abel and Cain is a good example of it (Genesis 4). Any effort from man to God often results in man boasting. Man being proud. God only exalts the humble.
Here is the icing on the cake...Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law not the Law the fulfillment of Jesus. It was through faith that Abraham was accredited righteousness, not the Law. The just live by faith! It is faith in JESUS that will move mountains, not the Law. You might be asking, 'what do you mean'. To put it simple, soo many have based on their relationship with Jesus through a checklist and not by living nor loving Jesus. People are focused on what must be done, whats right and what wrong, rather than fixing their eyes on He who will lead, hold and guide you by the hand throughout your life. The Law restricts, while Jesus fulfills! So if you are reading your Bible, butnot through the eyes of love, then you will not recognise Jesus through the scriptures. Rather, you should love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul, then love your neighbour as you love yourself, in this way you would have fulfilled the commandments of GOD! (Matthew 22:37).
Have faith, the sons of God are children of faith. i repeat, what is of God can only be done by and through God. How do we please God? by faith. How do we listen to God? By faith. How to get the power and authority of God? By faith. How has He become your Lord and Saviour? By faith. Believe in Jesus, to receive, through faith, the promises of God in your life.
But let me end off with this....when ever God speaks, man has to react. God told Moses to lift up his rod before God parted the Red Sea. God spoke to Joshua to walk around the walls of Jericho before the walls crumbled. God spoke to Abraham to leave his natural home before he received the promise of God. God is speaking to you...will you listen and obey? Will you stand in the channel of God's blessing by believing, listening and obeying?
ALL THINGS IN CHRIST JESUS ARE YES AND AMEN! You only need to believe to receive, not work to achieve
